I wrote this about recollections of being a shy, quasi-artistic kid who was shy with girls. Little did I know, 'Out Of Our League' was a mindset, not reality...
lyrics
Out of Our League
Many young men, all full of themselves
Bravado and swagger their aim
Fighting, teasing, slowly appeasing
Egos to bolster their game
Some of us others, bonded like brothers
Kept clear of those types and their kind
Made art, played music, we read and wrote poetry
Somehow we weren’t of that mind
But when it came to girls, we were shy and reserved
They never paid heed to our glances
Tho always in mind, we treated them kind
But we never approached for romancing
Shy boys, those quiet boys,
Full of mystery, love and intrigue
Always wishing, but never kissing
Those girls were out of our league
Time presses on, we leave and then we’re gone
From home as our wanderlust grows
Far distant shores kept calling for more
As a wandering soul kindly knows
We start anew, our heads and hearts grew
Maturity starts to emerge
Yet strangely enough, we can’t seem to bluff
Our confidence remained submerged
Shy boys, those quiet boys
Full of mystery, love and intrigue
Always wishing, but never kissing
Those girls were out of our league
Years gone by, my, my how time flies
The hair is starting to grey
Careers are built, many dreams fulfilled
Time grows more precious each day
Now there’s a yearning, our confidence burning
The women float in and out
But the manhood in man, has a different plan
Unsure of his whereabouts
Now, listen my children, truth be told
Youth is wasted on the young
Before you’re dead, men please get it through your head
You gotta sting, or prepare to get stung
Shy boys, those quiet boys
Mystery, love and intrigue
Always wishing, but never kissing
Those Girls were out of our league
Shy boys, those quiet boys
Full of mystery, love and intrigue
Always wishing, but never kissing
Those Girls were out of our league
